Infestations of the Aorta - Shrine to a Distant Relative, 1989 refabricated 2022.

Lithographic film, black and white photograph, wire, plexiglass framed. Installation View, Kettle’s Yard, University of Cambridge. Originally created in 1989 for the exhibition Intimate Distance, The Photographers’ Gallery, London, work was refabricated for my 2021 solo exhibition at Kettle’s Yard, University of Cambridge. The 3 duplicated images on litho film are from family photos (circa 1970s) taken of aunt holding her daughter (my cousin) at my cousin’s naming ceremony. There is a space between these 3 suspended prints and the photograph of the mouth of a Buddha’s statue mounted directly onto the wall behind. As light filters through the lithographic film prints they create a ghost like shadow across, accentuated sensations of touch and desire.
